Oxygen therapy is used by Cockermouth First Responders to treat a wide variety of medical conditions including: - Heart attacks
- Asthma attacks, bronchitis, emphysema
- Anaphylaxis
- Severe bleeding
- Active convulsions
- Hypothermia
We use small monitor that is placed on the finger called a "pulse oximeter" to measure the heart rate and the level of oxygen in the blood and if the oxygen saturation of the blood has dropped to below 94% or if any of the critical illnesses mentioned above are suspected then we would administer oxygen.
